Y6 Trip to Stockport Air Raid Shelters

Year 6 travelled back in time this week when they visited the Stockport Air Raid Shelters. The trip involved them exploring the 1 mile long air raid shelter tunnels which were dug 40ft below the town. The children also developed their understanding of life on the Home Front in 1940’s Britain in which they got to sound the air raid siren, practise their gas mask drills and discover what life was like at home during the war.
