Children’s Mental Health Week

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week with the theme ‘This Is My Place’. In school we have been focusing on the theme of “Belonging.”

Practising being grateful is a core focus during Ramadan, which starts in half term. This is a value that very much aligns with Christian values and is something that we can all benefit from whether we are of any faith or of none. Try a 30 day gratitude challenge with your child. Can they think of a different thing they are grateful for each day? Practicing gratitude—even for the small things—can increase joy, reduce stress, and improve overall mental health. Here are some ideas to help children to start to think about what they are grateful for.

  • Health: A functioning body, good sleep, and the ability to heal.

  • Connection: Supportive friends, family, and acts of kindness.

  • Communication: We we understand each other

  • Nature: Sunsets, sunrises, and the calming beauty of the outdoors.

  • Growth: Lessons learned from challenges, resilience, and learning a new skill or interesting fact.

  • Daily Comforts: A safe home, delicious food, technology, and chocolate.

  • Moments: Singing in the car, time with friends, a laugh, or a moment of quiet.
