DIAMOND CRICKET CHAMPIONS
Last Friday our Year 6 Girls cricket team enjoyed a sunny afternoon of Diamond Cricket at Bowdon Cricket Club.
The girls won all of their matches displaying fabulous team spirit and demonstrating some fabulous cricket skills throughout.
The event was supported by Ashley Cricket Club who have a superb Girls Cricket section and are currently welcoming new members.
Our girls were all very proud to receive their well deserved winning medals and trophy
Ms Parle was very impressed with all the girls involved.
On Tuesday Ms Parle & Mrs Ryley took two teams to this year’s Diamond Cricket Festival at Timperley Sports Club.
It was a full day event with the emphasis of the day on fun and participation. There were lots of schools at the event and we all had chance to play every school. There were no scores kept because the emphasis was for the children to have lots of fun, and enjoy playing cricket.
The children all had a great time displaying some fabulous team work, kindness and super cricket skills!!
Our children were all superb BCS ambassadors demonstrating all our Schools ‘Golden Values’.
Diamond cricket is similar to normal cricket, however, there are four sets of stumps arranged in a diamond formation and there are four batters batting at the same time. The bowler will bowl to a batter and if the batter hits the ball, then all the batters run anti-clockwise. The batters score runs by running to the stumps. Batters can get dismissed if a fielder catches the ball or hits the stumps when a batter is not present. Diamond cricket is a fast-paced game and is perfect to play in smaller areas.
