  • Prayer Spaces

Prayer is always a part of school life and every classroom has a quiet spot to pray or reflect in. This week we have focused even more on finding the time and space to stop and find space for prayer and reflection. Each class has created a special prayer activity and space to take time to pray and/or reflect. Some of them are shared below.

The Y2 Prayer Space was called Doves of Peace.

Anger, selfishness and wanting what someone else owns all lead to a fight. When whole countries behave like this it leads to war. Putting other people first spreads peace. Christians believe they are called to spread peace wherever they are in the world.

The children wrote a message or prayer on a Dove of Peace then pinned it to the display board to  cover over the negative words..

Year 4 - ‘Sunflowers of hope’. In this task, Year 4 students created a large sunflower display to represent the Christian value of hope. Each child wrote a personal message of hope on a sunflower petal, sharing their wishes, goals, prayers, or positive thoughts for the future. These petals were then brought together to form one bright sunflower, symbolising how hope grows when a community supports one another. The activity helped Year 4 reflect on what hope means in their lives and in Christianity, while also encouraging them to express gratitude, kindness, and optimism.

Year 5 did a prayer scavenger hunt around the school grounds. We used items in the environment as a prompt for prayer and reflection. The children worked in small teams to search for the items on the lists and then developed prayers together. They enjoyed it so much, they added extra items to the list!

Year 6 -The Prayer Room. Year 6 have been improving the Prayer Room environment. The children have created an interactive display to guide us to achieve our mission statement: “I have come that they might have life and have it in abundance.” John 10:10.  The children have also written prayers linked to our school values and created origami doves as a symbol of gentleness and humility. The doves remind us to leave conflict at the door and to reflect on our lives with peace and hope.
