    Key Information

    Welcome to Year 5!

     PE Kit

    Please wear your PE kit on Monday and Friday. Earrings should be studs only and either taken out, or covered up for PE lessons.

    Being organised

    Bring items for school, like a pencil case, a substantial healthy morning snack, lunch box and water bottle, in a named school bag to school every day. Make sure longer hair is tied-up, and children definitely need a named coat for the British weather!

    Homework

    Homework is set on a Monday and is due the following Monday. We will post the tasks on Google Classroom, with links or attachments as appropriate. Some work will be done online and other work will be paper-based. We will make this clear so there’s no confusion!

    Homework will consist of:

    • Maths (mymaths) - login details in homework books;

    • SPAG.com (alternate weeks) -login details in homework books;

    • Reading (with written responses on alternate weeks)- posted on Google Classroom;

    • Personal reading book with an expectation of at least 10 minutes reading per day

    We very much appreciate your support in ensuring that the children complete their homework independently and to the best of their ability.

    Walking Home Pass

    We MUST have parents' permission for a child to walk home on their own. Please complete the form which is attached to an email which was sent in September. For one-off changes, please bring a signed note on the day (or email y5@ bowdoncs.org) so we can arrange a temporary walking home pass.

    No mobile phones or electronic devices, including smart watches / Fitbits are allowed in school.

    Y5 Residential

    At the start of the summer term, Yr5 go on a 3 day/2 night residential trip to Robinwood. This is a fun-packed few days of team building and outdoor adventures. A kit list and more details will be shared closer to the time!

    Updates and photos will be shared via Google classroom so do check often. We are super-excited about the year ahead, and we hope that you are too!

    We are keen to work together with you and encourage you to keep in contact with us if you have any concerns or questions. Please use the email Y5@bowdoncs.org
