    Key Information

    Welcome to Year 6!

We are really looking forward to getting to know you all and making sure that your final year at BCS is a year to remember.

Our school day begins at 8:25am and you will need to be in the classroom, ready to start learning by 8:40am. We finish at 3:05pm. You may have a Walking Pass in Y6 for coming to and from school independently, if your parents or carers provide permission.  Permission is given through a Google form that will be sent to parents at the start of the year.

In Year 6, you will need to wear your PE kit on Mondays and Tuesdays and you should bring named items for school, such as a pencil case, morning snack, lunchbox and water bottle. Make sure longer hair is tied up and you definitely need a named coat for the British weather! In school, absolutely no mobile phones or electronic devices, including smartwatches / Fitbits, are allowed.

    Homework

Homework is set on a Wednesday and is due the following Wednesday. We will post the tasks on Google Classroom, with links or attachments as appropriate.

    Homework will consist of:

    • Maths (mymaths) or maths.co.uk

    • SPAG.com

    • Reading - posted on Google Classroom

    • Book Club text

    SATS

In May, Year 6 children will take their SATS exams. This will be a series of four tests, focussing on; SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar), Maths Paper 1 (Arithmetic), Maths Paper 2 (Reasoning), Maths Paper 3 (Reasoning) and a Reading Paper. We practice for these tests throughout the year, so children know the procedure and feel comfortable with the overall process, and even though our test results are strong, what we are most proud of is how we prioritise the children's wellbeing during what can be a stressful period.

    Y6 Residential

Towards the end of the summer term, we will go on a 3-day/2-night residential trip to Conway Centre, Anglesey. This is a fun-packed few days of team building and outdoor adventures. A kit list and more details will be shared closer to the time!

We are super-excited about the year ahead, and we hope that you are too!

Mrs. Storey, Miss Jenkinson, Mrs. Mosley and Mrs.Thompson.
