Student Teachers

      

At Bowdon Church School we feel that supporting the education of future teachers is highly significant. As a result, we have close partnerships with the Trafford Teaching School Alliance Initial Teacher Training, Manchester University and their PGCE programme, and Manchester Metropolitan University's BA(Hons) programme. 

 

This means that we accommodate a number of student teachers throughout the academic year. They may be in school for brief periods of time or they may complete a full placement with us, however, we ensure that they receive a thorough induction to our school, policies and expectations. We have very high expectations of our student teachers and aim to provide them with a high standard of support, education and honest advice to ensure they make excellent progress whilst they are with us. 

 

Each student will be overseen by a number of staff. They will be mainly supported by the class teacher that they are working with (who will support them with planning, teaching, assessment for example and observe them formally). The Teaching Assistants they work alongside are also key people in their education at Bowdon and their observations are included in assessments of teaching. Mrs Norbury (Student Mentor) will then oversee their time in school, liasing with the class mentor and the student weekly.
