  • Sports Hall Athletics

    Wed 17 Jan 2024

On Wednesday 17th January some children from Y5 & 6 took part in an indoor Athletics competition at AGGS. The children work as a team to collect points in a range of track and field events. We are pleased to announce that we won the competition and have progressed to the Trafford finals in March. Well done to the children involved and thank you to the parents who helped to walk to the event. Thank you to Ms Parle for organising the team too.

    Thu 21 Dec 2023

We have received our Pudsey Medals this week from Children in Need! These have been sent home with the children by the class teachers. Thank you to all those involved and helping to raise an amazing £19,324.59 !!!

This was a record breaking amount for Bowdon Church School and we are so proud of every child and staff member who took part and supported this event. It was fantastic to be able to deliver the medals around school and get such a positive response from the children.

  • PTA Christmas Fair

    Thu 07 Dec 2023

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported the PTA Christmas Fair on Saturday! We had almost 800 people through the doors, nearly 100 parents & teachers volunteering their time, and all organised by a committee of just 8 mums! We hope all our families had a great time and are feeling very Christmassy!

  • Happy Advent

    Mon 04 Dec 2023

Advent marks the beginning of the Christian church year. It is a time for reflection in darkness, for renewal of hope and for a movement towards a beginning. In school Mrs Platts, Mrs Power and Mrs Halliwell have worked together to create our advent display next to our Christmas tree, with Advent prayers and our advent candles. Children have the opportunity to add their own prayers to our tree of blessings.

Bowdon Parish also warmly invites you to celebrate Christmas 2023 at St Mary's and St Luke's.

  • AMAZING CHILDREN IN NEED FUNDRAISING TOTAL!

    Tue 21 Nov 2023 SMoss

We have been absolutely ‘blown away’ by the amazing response to our Children in Need appeal! Thank you to all the children for their enthusiasm and for completing all those laps of the school! Thank you to the staff for helping to coordinate the event and a HUGE thank you to all our family and friends who sponsored this event. We were truly fortunate with the weather and there were lots of smiling faces as the children ran around. One of the best moments of the day was Year 5 and 6 children running with and encouraging the Reception and Year 1 children around the course.

  • Children in Need - Individual Fundraising

    Fri 17 Nov 2023

Obi decided to raise money for Children in Need this year by running a “name the bear” competition with a brand new Pudsey Bear he bought especially for the competition. With the help of his friends, family and classmates he has raised an amazing £279 for Children in Need - and lucky Emily was the winner! Well done Obi, that’s a fantastic fundraising effort, and thank you to everyone who donated.

Ex-pupil, Libby and Harvey received some lovely news just before the break re being short-listed for the Sir Terry Wogan YFOTY Award. Following some mini telephone interviews asking them about the yearly events they have organised and also reaching out to Mrs Horner/Mrs Pope we learned they had reached the final stage of the competition. Libby is keen to arrange a danceathon this year and Harvey is busy making a Pudsey comic book. They are both so very excited and have been invited to watch and participate in the live show on 17th Nov. 💛

Here are children from Year 5 celebrating being unique!

  • Poppy Appeal

    Mon 13 Nov 2023 SMoss

Thank you to all those who supported our annual poppy appeal. Year 6 children visited the classes for the week leading up to the 11th November to sell poppies and the school office sold a selection of other poppy themed items.

    Together we raised £577.18 !

Assemblies were held during the week to raise the children's awareness of the charity and why we stop to remember those who have served our country. Our Year 2 children visited the memorial at St Mary's, Bowdon to lay their own poppies and Year 5 children created collages.

  • Ugandaid 2023 - A message from Miss Allcock

    Thu 02 Mar 2023

I am now back from my incredible trip to Uganda. I have been truly touched by the experience and have made memories that I will never forget. The money we raised as a school was taken over and 100% of it has been spent on projects; e.g. renovating the medical centre, supporting street kids and helping the local hospice. I am so looking forward to sharing my experience with the children at BCS.

Whilst I was there, I had the privilege of picking two new students for the school to sponsor. I chose one boy and one girl.

This young man is named Difasi. He has just started a welding and metal fabrication course. Both of his parents are peasants. Difasi reared goats for the neighbours to earn a bit of money to pay for fees.

This young lady is called Syndrella. She is studying plumbing. Sadly, her father died of Covid 19, which meant she had to drop out of school.

It was a privilege to meet both of the students. They are ambitious and eager to learn. They were both very grateful for our support and look forward to the opportunities that their studies will bring
