Our School Day

The School Day for Reception Children

September 2021 to July 2022

Gates Open

Please park off site and walk in via the two pedestrian gates (by the staff carpark barrier and from the path by the cricket club)

8.25am to 8:40 am

Children come straight into class upon arrival - bring children to the internal Reception gate and hand over to Reception staff.

Registration

8:40am Registration

The Reception gate will be locked at 8:40am and the pedestrian gates at 8:50 to allow parents to vacate the site from dropping off. Children arriving after 8:40am should be taken to the school office to be registered as late.

Lunchtime

 11.25am - 12:25pm

End of School

2:55pm Pedestrian gates open for parents and carers to walk onto site

3pm Reception children -to be collected on foot by a designated adult from the Reception internal gate, a handwritten note to the teacher should be sent if arrangements change.

PE kit is to be worn on PE days and teachers will inform you when these will be. Please make sure longer hair is tied up and children definitely need a named coat for the British weather! In fact, all items that are brought into school must be clearly named, so that they can come home again!

After School Child Care for Reception Children

Children who have been registered for childcare will remain in the Reception classrooms and be cared for by Reception staff (Miss Girdlestone & Mrs Banks). There are two collection times: 4:30pm and 5:30pm from the external Reception gate (approach from the front of school, behind the 'Creative Space' classroom). If you wish to know more about Reception childcare, please speak to Mrs Black in the school office or email ablack@bowdoncs.org)

Heartsmart

We teach our children how to deal with the demands of life through the HeartSmart scheme of work. HeartSmart is based on love, forgiveness and resilience and teaches children how to respond positively to challenges.  You can learn much more on the BCS Life Skills page where you will find links to HeartSmart videos and activities.
