Hello again Year 1...

We hope that you are all doing well. Last week we had some lovely weather which we are sure you made the most of during your daily exercise! 

This week you will be reading Aliens Love Underpants by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. We have also created lots of activities for you surrounding space and aliens, including drawing and writing about your own alien, making a junk model rocket, and learning about the history of space travel. We will also be continuing our Judaism topic in RE.

We have designed your lessons this week so that all of your writing will be in the morning, with afternoon lessons not involving writing. There is a writing sheet for RE below, but please note that this is an optional extra, the RE lesson can be completed verbally.

Updated Information About Maths.

Dear Parents,

We have decided to use Power Maths instead of White Rose as it follows the school curriculum more closely and gives a better level of challenge. Most other year groups in the school will also be using it.

This will require a little more involvement from parents as there are no explanatory videos. Most pupils will need a bit of help at the beginning of each lesson to understand the concepts in the textbook pages.

This week, you can print pages out from the textbook if you like, or view on screen and just note down answers on paper. To avoid you having to print out next week, we would like everyone to use the 1C Practice book at home. Most parents have ordered this from Amazon for £1.99, but it is now out of stock. (It is still available from the publishers- Pearson, but they charge an extra £4.50 for delivery.)

We do have some of these books in school, so if you didn't manage to order one in time, please contact your child's teacher ASAP, and we will help.
