There's always something happening at Bowdon Church School

  • Hockey Tournament

    Thu 31 Oct 2019

Ms Bulcock has written a very detailed report of the tournament on Tuesday. It is a pleasure to read, thank you to the children for your sportsmanship and to Ms Bulcock for coaching the Hockey team.

Heyes Lane. 0-0 A tough first game for Bowdon as 2 goals were disallowed due to confusion of where the temporary ‘D’ was, but all players kept their spirits high after working really hard for the full ten minutes, and the team played really well considering it was their first game of the school year for them.

Navigation. 0-2 Loss. Navigation were a very strong team, and we tried so hard again for the entire ten minute period to try and get those goals back. The players off Navigation just had that fighting edge to them, and after another great performance from the team, and plenty of fantastic saves from Oscar in goal, Bowdon’s heads remained high and our final match against Park Road was being entered into with positivity and confidence.

Park Road- 2-0 Win. An absolutely brilliant performance, from every single member of the squad. Bowdon from the first whistle were a force not to be reckoned with-  their strength reflected the scoreline which finished at 2-0, after a couple of fantastic goals from James. Oscar again (after asking if he was allowed to dive after the 2nd game) was great in goal- diving left right and centre to keep the ball getting anywhere near the back of the net!

The attitude of all ten individuals at Tuesday nights tournament was brilliant- it was a pleasure to be there coaching with them, and I look forward to watching so many of them grow and develop on the already fantastic skillset that they all have.  Here’s to the next tournament and success! Well done Bowdon!
