  • Year 6 interview Graham Brady!

    Fri 25 Jun 2021

Our Year 6 children had an online Q&A with MP Graham Brady this week, as part of a virtual workshop with the UK Parliament education service. The children asked superb questions, including the pros and cons of our UK democracy, and if he supported Brexit.
Mrs Thompson now thinks that we may have some future political journalists in our midst!!

  • Sports' Week

    Thu 24 Jun 2021

All classes have spent the week participating in a range of sporting activities as part of the Trafford School Sports Partnership Virtual Sports Day Challenge.
The children have had to complete 6 challenges in the following areas; balance, ball handling, running, catching, jumping and fitness. The challenges focus pupils' thoughts on the key School Games values of Determination, Self Belief and Honesty and encourage them to master various skills and achieve their Personal Best.

Not only has this been some fun intra (internal) school competition but Mrs Cochrane will be submitting the top 3 Boys & Girls scores per year group which will contribute to the BCS Team score which will then be compared against other schools in Trafford who have also taken part.

  • We are ‘Climate Heroes’!

    Thu 24 Jun 2021

Our Year 1 children have taken part in the Blue Peter Green Badge Climate Heroes Challenge. Each child had to complete a plastic pledge, a power pledge and a plant pledge. They’ve been in charge of recycling at home, switching screen time for outdoor time, planting pollinator friendly plants and turning off taps to save water. We also took part in a supersized pledge in school in a bid to reduce the amount of electricity we use. They created a fantastic poster to show how much they care about nature, the environment and our planet. We cannot wait for our Green Blue Peter badges to arrive! Well done Year 1.

  • Enterprise Challenge is BACK!

    Thu 17 Jun 2021

On Monday, our Year 6 children launched their Enterprise Challenge project by getting into teams and participating in some team-building activities, and then on Tuesday they were jumping for joy as they arrived at the Bowdon Rooms for a full day session on innovation led by Laila Smurthwaite.

Thank you to Laila for being an inspirational facilitator and to the Prophet family for the kind donation of the meeting space!

  • Shakespeare comes to BCS!

    Thu 17 Jun 2021

On Monday 14th June, we welcomed the Young Shakespeare Company to BCS. They delivered an absolutely compelling version of Hamlet to a hall of spellbound Year 6s.

On Thursday 17th June, Year 5 enjoyed watching an interactive performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Thank you to the incomparable Mrs Sales for organising these superb experiences of live theatre for the children! 🙏
