    Hockey
“The evening of BCS Success and 2-0 Wins”
BCS Hockey Tournament- the first school event in year six for quite a few of the team, so the excitement was already building before we even left school.
Our first match was against Altrincham C of E, and from the off Bowdon were in control of the game. The team worked well together which allowed Arlo to put two goals past their goalkeeper, with a winning result of 2-0. The second game was immediately after against local rivals the Bollin (or as Ethan mentioned our “local derby”). Again, the team coped well with frequent rotations to avoid anybody getting too cold, and Dexter N and Jack both scored fantastic goals, with another win at 2-0. For our final game against St Vincents, Sammy stepped out of the GK roll, Jack switched with him, so he had his first outing on the field. This game was much tougher and Bowdon were definitely challenged. Greta, Dexter and James held the strong defence well, and Charlie, George and Ethan used their speed to create opportunities for the team, again allowing Bowdon to end the tournament on another 2-0 win.
Considering it was the first match together, it was a fantastic effort (especially for Ruby who only started hockey this year!)
The team was captained by both Arlo and James W, who both made sure that the team represented the school in a proud and enthusiastic manner and demonstrated great sportsmanship. Well done to you all- who are very much looking forward to the February tournament already. Match Report by Miss Bulcock.

  • Bread Tasting from around the World in Reception

    Thu 20 Jan 2022

Reception had a fabulous time tasting sampling breads from all over the world yesterday!  Children were invited to bring in bread which had significance for their own family history and we were amazed at the many different nations represented.  Here we have Australian damper bread,  home made chapati and  pineapple buns.  We would be surprised if any of the children managed to eat much tea last night!  A big thank you to all of you for making this so much fun for the children.
