There's always something happening at Bowdon Church School

  • Reception Fundraising for Ugandaid

    Wed 16 Dec 2020

Reception have been doing their own fundraising to support Ugandaid.  They made chocolate biscuity bark which they took home and in return they brought a donation back into school.  The children are learning that Christmas is a special time for thinking about others and for giving help.

  • Year 3 - Sunshine Snail Mail for Manchester Royal Children's Hospital

    Wed 16 Dec 2020

Year 3 have made cards for children who could use a smile. Over Christmas, some children will have to be in hospital and due to current restrictions have fewer visitors. Hopefully our letters filled with jokes, pictures and uplifting words will put a smile on their face.

We have also written thank you letters to people in the school that we haven't been able to see as much.

  • *Thank you* YOU MADE THE WORLD BETTER WITH A SWEATER!

    Wed 16 Dec 2020

Thank you for your support on ‘Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day’. Together we raised a fantastic  £892.99. Your donations will help pay for the antibiotics to treat children suffering from pneumonia, one of the biggest killers of children, and bring essential food, healthcare, education, and protection to millions of children around the world.

  • *Thank you* from the  POPPY APPEAL

    Wed 16 Dec 2020

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our poppy appeal by sending in donations for poppies in school. Together we raised £720.78, which was just over a third of the total amount raised for the district.
  • £6,284.89 Raised in 2020 for Wythenshawe Hospital

    Thu 10 Dec 2020

Today we received a lovely thank you from Wythenshawe Hospital for an outstanding £6,284.89 raised by our wonderful children at Bowdon Church School, cycling, running, swimming and walking over the summer lockdown period.

3P managed to cycle an amazing 1704 km and 40 fantastic year 6-ers (now in Y7) completed 1355.13 km, both set of children absolutely smashing their original targets. Money raised has gone towards providing rest areas for staff and education for staff, following on from the Covid Crisis.

Heartfelt thanks go to all who were involved in the fundraising, including children, families and friends

  • Virtual Nativities and Carol Service

    Wed 09 Dec 2020

Filming in school has started for our virtual Christmas celebrations and the children are very excited! With Mr Cunliffe and Mrs Hudson in charge of filming we are all looking forward to the final productions. Instead of a retiring collection after our usual live performances, we are appealing for donations on the last day of term for Ugandaid in recognition of the children of staff’s hard work to bring you the usual magic of a Christmas nativity or carol service.

  • Pudsey readathon challenge

    Tue 08 Dec 2020

Libby, Harvey and Imogen have been very busy indeed completing readathons for Children in Need. Imogen has spent two weeks with her head quite literally in a book, managing to read ten books in just fourteen days finishing with 'The Hobbit' and raised £190 for Children in Need.

Libby read 15 books in total: her favourites were Malory Towers and a beautiful children’s book on the works of Shakespeare. Harvey has also read a lovely selection of books from school and home. Together Libby and Harvey have raised £300 for Children In Need.

What a fantastic achievement for everyone!
