  • Year 3 visit a Mandir as part of their RE topic on Hinduism

    Thu 29 Nov 2018
All 89 children descended upon the Gita Bhavan Mandir in Whalley Range last Thursday. They were so knowledgeable about every aspect of Hinduism and didn’t stop putting their hands up to share all the fascinating facts we have learnt since September. They impressed Mr Sharma so much with their enthusiasm, understanding and impeccable manners: they were great ambassadors for Bowdon!
  • Mr Cunliffe's performance as Zebulun in Joseph

    Fri 23 Nov 2018
Some of Mr. Cunliffe’s class and their parents surprised him by going to see him in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, in Bolton this weekend. They absolutely loved the show, especially all the dancing and singing and the amazing lights. They even managed to get front row tickets!  Mr. Cunliffe played the role of one of Jacob’s other sons, Zebulun.
  • Cross Country Running

    Fri 23 Nov 2018

On Saturday some of our cross country runners took part in the last race of the season at John Leigh Park. Nearly all our runners achieved a BP and I’m pleased to report that Susanna won the individual girls trophy which is a fantastic achievement. Well done to all the children who have attended the John Leigh races this season! Congratulations also to Mr and Mrs Blann who entered the parents’ race; Mr Blann came 2nd and Mrs Blann was the first women across to cross the finishing line.

We also heard from ex-parent, Mr Simpson, who told us that Emma, his youngest, recently came 7th in the National U17 Championships for Triple Jump and that she has been selected to play for the Greater Manchester Hockey Team. It is always wonderful to hear about the successes from our previous pupils!

  • Year 5 Residential to Culmington

    Fri 16 Nov 2018

Year Five returned safely from a fantastic 2 night trip to Culmington Manor in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. The weather was kind, which enabled everyone to participate and enjoy the activities ranging from rifle shooting, archery, fencing, abseiling and many more besides. The children behaved brilliantly and the staff there commented on both the children’s manners and maturity; they were true BCS ambassadors. A huge thank you to all the parent helpers who gave their time to assist us - it was truly appreciated! Thanks also to Mr Hamblett for organising another super trip.

Go to the Y5 page to see lots of exciting pictures!

    Fri 16 Nov 2018

Children were asked to 'Do Their Thing' by wearing clothes to show their hobbies, interests or personality. We also held a 'Bowdon Bake Off' decorating cupcakes. What a lovely way to support this annual charity event! We  have now counted all the money and the school office have paid in a fantastic  £1,030.66, including £69 from Bowdon Nursery. A big thank you to everyone.

We also have an amazing group of Y1 friends and family who organised their own sponsored cycling event raising £632.50!

    Evelyn’s House - Ugandaid

We have received a lovely letter of appreciation from Evelyn.  Mrs Cochrane is looking forward to meeting Evelyn again next February and seeing her and her children settled in their new house. Many thanks to all of you who were involved in raising the money which will change the life of this family.

An amazing collection of artwork from across the school and activities throughout the day.
  • Dance, Sale Harriers, Lacrosse and Netball News

    Thu 08 Nov 2018

    All England Dance

Congratulations to Theo, who has qualified for All England competition, a fitting achievement for all his hard work and dedication. He won gold at his last competition in song and dance and will compete at the regionals next May. What an impressive trophy!

    Sale Harriers

Saturday saw the first race of the season at Sale Harriers. The conditions were perfect for the runners and it showed in the results; Susanna won the girls race, leading the whole way round! Both Yannick and Zac D placed in the top 10 and for 50% of the boys it was their first time. Very well done to 14 runners who ran for us! Also thank you to Mr Cunliffe for giving up his Saturday morning, coming along and supporting the teams as well as being official photographer!

    Netball

The Netball league has begun and we have been fortunate to enter 2 teams this year! The A team had their first match against Bowdon Prep. Unfortunately they lost 12 -1 but that score does not reflect how well the girls played. Both Miss Parel and Mrs Cochrane (the league organiser) were very impressed with the standard of the girls play considering this was their first league match!

    Lacrosse

Very well done to the 2 teams that attended the Lacrosse Tournament at Timperley Sports Club on Tuesday. The A team won 5 and drew one game and the B team won 5 and lost 1 (by just one goal!). Out of 10 teams we came 2nd and 3rd which is fantastic and shows the high standard of our players. Miss Parle is very pleased with the teams and would like to thank the parents who helped out.
