Impact

Impact

How do we know the maths curriculum is having an impact?

We are judged at both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two in the SATs tests. We are also ‘judged’ by how well the children do in the maths papers in entrance exams. However, less formally, we will know it is having an impact if we produce numerate children who enjoy maths and can apply their knowledge in many different contexts and scenarios. That is our aim.

How do we assess how well the pupils are learning the content outlined in the curriculum?

We prepare the children well. Following staff training in September, we now enhance this further by using bar modelling so that we can enhance the real understanding of concepts in maths.  More class teaching (with catch-up for slower learners) will ensure that the foundations laid down are very strong and secure.
