World Book Week
World Book Week!
At BCS we celebrate World Book Day over a whole week!
'Take One Book' is one of the most exciting events of the whole school calendar. We select one incredible book that each class teacher reveals in a cosy read session. Each year group then produces their own writing, drama and artwork based on the text and the issues/ideas within it. This is then celebrated on display boards across the school. In 2022, the text we chose was Sulwe and in 2021 it was There's a Rang Tan in my bedroom.
On the Friday of our World Book Week, we all 'Wear a Word'. Children and staff across the school either dress as a word or an idiom. The costumes are so creative and it creates such a buzz around school! We also run our annual book fair every day after school which generates rewards to spent on books to replenish and refresh our reading areas across school. Here are some of the wonderful books we managed to buy from our last World Book Week.

On World Book Day, our whole school community comes together to read!
Years 5 and 6 fan out around the building, reading in small groups with the younger children, who bring their favourite books to school.
