The children have started to read The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. They started by writing some facts about Rudyard Kipling and added them to our display.
In Science the children have been learning about the parts of a flower by dissecting it.
In English this week the children have been working as a class, in groups and independently to write a recount of Theseus and the Minotaur.

The children have been learning about capacity this week. They completed a carousel of all different activities and had to estimate how much liquid was in each container before measuring it. They also used the working wall to solve lots of measurement problems.
In Science the children did some research on the properties of different rocks. The created a mind-map in groups before testing out these properties.

The children were also learning about betrayal, reconciliation, trust and forgiveness. They wrote their own definition for each and drew pictures that represented their definition. These also went into the R.E Reflection book.
They then wrote their favourite memory of Mr Hamblett and put it into their R.E Reflection scrapbook.
The children started this week's R.E lesson by watching Mr Hamblett teaching in Treasure Champs. Their reaction to seeing him was so lovely!
In Religion the children have started creating their own scrapbook to reflect on what they have been learning about. We started by collecting a few pieces of work from their thankfulness topic last term.

In English the children were recapping prepositions by rolling the dice and using the preposition in exciting sentences.

Children in Need Day! The children all looked fantastic in their 'Do Your Thing' outfits.
This week's Maths Working Wall. The children started to complete the activities on the wall. They had to discuss their answers with their partner and explain their reasoning.
After reviewing good instructions and bad instructions, the children have been writing their own instructions for drawing a picture. They then tested them out by asking their peers to follow them on their whiteboards.
In R.E the children have been thinking of words that Christians would use to describe God.
In English the children were writing their own monster adventure in the form of a storyboard. This was inspired by Moz the Monster.

In Guided Reading, the children were taking in turns to read the next chapter of The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. This was in preparation for writing a set of instructions on how to put the Iron Man back together.
In Science the children were looking at how toy cars move on different surfaces at different heights. They had to predict which surface would have the most friction and why this might be. They then investigated whether their prediction was correct.

In Science the children were exploring how muscles work. They first felt the muscles in their faces using different facial expressions and then they discovered how biceps and triceps work together.
In Maths, the children conducted a car survey collecting data for the number of coloured cars that drove past. They then converted the data into a pictogram.

In English, the children have been looking at features of writing that authors use to describe a setting. We looked at Korean Cinderella and the children had to describe a festival using BOYS sentences, 2AD sentences and similes. They all produced fantastic work! Well done!
This week in Maths the children have been learning about measurement. They have also been learning how to explain and provide reasoning for their answers; a really tricky concept but they've all worked so hard!
In Art, the children have been looking at and sketching Indian Architecture.
