The children have been looking at performance poetry and creating a Roman poem in a similar style to 'We're going on a bear hunt'.

In RE the children have been discussing the difference between want and need and reflecting on what is really important to us.

They then investigated what it is like to identify objects without any source of light.

In Science the children have been determining which objects are sources of light.

The children have started to read The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. They started by writing some facts about Rudyard Kipling and added them to our display.

In Science the children have been learning about the parts of a flower by dissecting it.

In English this week the children have been working as a class, in groups and independently to write a recount of Theseus and the Minotaur.

Congratulations to our Role Model for really trying your hardest this week. You have really been listening and you have really been trying to be the best you can possibly be! Well done to our first Merit for persevering with your Maths. Your confidence is growing and growing and this has really shown in how much progress you are making. Congratulations to our second Merit for a fantastic Stone Age project. Keep on being creative and using that fantastic imagination!

The children have been learning about Fairtrade and the production of tea. The children had to sequence the events of how tea is made.

Stone Age projects. The children have gone above and beyond with their projects. They were all so creative and they thoroughly enjoyed presenting them to the class.

Congratulations to our Role Model for coming back to school settled and engaged in your learning. Well done to our first Merit for being a Maths Superstar this week. The children have been writing their own play script to The Three Little Pigs this week. They then acted them out in groups.

In Science the children conducted a experiment to test out the permeability of different soils.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

The children have been learning about capacity this week. They completed a carousel of all different activities and had to estimate how much liquid was in each container before measuring it. They also used the working wall to solve lots of measurement problems.

In Science the children did some research on the properties of different rocks. The created a mind-map in groups before testing out these properties.

Congratulations to our Role Model. You are a delight to have in the classroom, always smiling and keeping us on our toes with your questioning. Your behaviour this week has been outstanding. Well done to our first Merit for fantastic concentration and focus this week, especially in English. You have really been trying to make your sentences even more exciting! Star Writer King and Queen! Your recounts of Jessica were superb. Keep on writing these fantastic, exciting sentences!

The children were also learning about betrayal, reconciliation, trust and forgiveness. They wrote their own definition for each and drew pictures that represented their definition. These also went into the R.E Reflection book.

They then wrote their favourite memory of Mr Hamblett and put it into their R.E Reflection scrapbook.

The children started this week's R.E lesson by watching Mr Hamblett teaching in Treasure Champs. Their reaction to seeing him was so lovely!

In Religion the children have started creating their own scrapbook to reflect on what they have been learning about. We started by collecting a few pieces of work from their thankfulness topic last term.

School trip at Gita Bhavan Hindu Temple. The children had a fantastic time at the temple this week. They had the opportunity to learn even more about Hinduism and draw pictures of the stunning artwork and statues in the temple.

This week's Maths Working Wall. The children started to complete the activities on the wall. They had to discuss their answers with their partner and explain their reasoning.

After reviewing good instructions and bad instructions, the children have been writing their own instructions for drawing a picture. They then tested them out by asking their peers to follow them on their whiteboards.

WW1 Day! The children all looked amazing in their outfits.

To celebrate Diwali, the children have been making their own clay lamps.

Our Star Writer for writing a fantastic set of instructions. You have been really trying with your handwriting and spelling. Keep up the fantastic work!!

In Guided Reading, the children were taking in turns to read the next chapter of The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. This was in preparation for writing a set of instructions on how to put the Iron Man back together.

In Science the children were looking at how toy cars move on different surfaces at different heights. They had to predict which surface would have the most friction and why this might be. They then investigated whether their prediction was correct.

In Science the children were exploring how muscles work. They first felt the muscles in their faces using different facial expressions and then they discovered how biceps and triceps work together.

In Maths, the children conducted a car survey collecting data for the number of coloured cars that drove past. They then converted the data into a pictogram.

In English, the children have been looking at features of writing that authors use to describe a setting. We looked at Korean Cinderella and the children had to describe a festival using BOYS sentences, 2AD sentences and similes. They all produced fantastic work! Well done!

This week in Maths the children have been learning about measurement. They have also been learning how to explain and provide reasoning for their answers; a really tricky concept but they've all worked so hard!

In Art, the children have been looking at and sketching Indian Architecture.

In Art the children have been sketching and using oil pastels to create their own self-portraits.

This week the children have been using the prayer corner to take some time to say a prayer and reflect on our class value: thankfulness.

The children have had a fantastic week which meant that choosing my Role Model and Merit winners was difficult. Well done to our lovely Role Model for perseverance in all lessons - even with a broken wrist - and for being such a kind and caring member of 3H. Congratulations to one of our Merit Award winners for fantastic engagement in lessons, especially Science, and to our other Merit Award winner for superb work in Maths. Keep up the hard work!

Boogie Friday!!

In Music the children have been learning to play the ukulele.

Gymnastics: the children were practising travelling moves.

This week the children have been looking at shape poems and discussing their favourites and explaining why.

This year's first Role Model in 3H is awarded for having an excellent attitude to learning. She has fantastic manners and is a delight to have in the classroom. Well done!
