Spring update

We have a very busy half term left before Easter! We started this half term off with a school trip to consolidate our learning on the Anglo-Saxons.

This is what we will be looking at this half term.

English: Stories from other cultures, with a focus on stories from Africa.

Maths: Fractions and decimals

Foundation subjects: Geography- "Is Iceland really just a land of ice?" We will be looking at Iceland and comparing the country to the U.K. 4H are doing music, 4D DT and 4C are doing drama and dance. Please can you make sure the children have their full P.E. kit include socks and trainers every day?

As we are a few weeks into the Spring 2 term, we have noticed that some children are finding their fractions work tricky. This is mainly due to their times tables skills. It is imperative that they have a rapid recall of times tables as it is the foundation for a lot of learning in KS2.

Autumn update

Welcome back to school boys and girls! We hope you have all had a lovely summer and are ready to learn.

The main topics we will be looking at this term are:

Maths- place value, addition and subtraction, length and perimeter, multiplication and division.

English- Non-fiction writing, exciting sentences and story writing.

Science- Animals including humans

Geography- British Isles

And plenty more!

Please make sure that your child has their full P.E. kit in school every day including trainers. Girls should have their hair tied back every day and if their ears are pierced, they must be either taken out or covered with medical tape for P.E. lessons.

Homework will be given out on a Tuesday to be handed in by the following Monday. Although we like to encourage the children to be independent, please could you look over their learning and sign it to show that it has been checked by an adult. Maths homework will be issued online via MyMaths- more on this later. This can be completed on a laptop or on a tablet.

We look forward to working with you this year and thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.

Miss Hong, Mrs Davies and Mr Cunliffe.
