Hello Year 1!

 

This week we will be reading The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. We will also be reading My Friend Whale by Simon James and a poem called My Magic Seashell.

 

We will be doing some classification in Science this week. We will classify objects on the beach into natural and man made. We will also be classifying mini beasts! We will do this based on how many wings they have.

 

In Maths, you will be starting to learn about Multiplication! (Although this topic has been covered, it has not been done in the power maths books so we will be going over it.)

 

Phonics

This half term we will be using Phonics Play. There are 5 sounds to be focused on this week.

• Monday's and Thursday's activities can be used with these 5 sounds.
• For Tuesday and Wednesday's activities you can select Phase 5. If you think revision of Phase 3 would be useful then you can use this also. 
• On Friday we will be revising tricky words.
