Vision and Values

Our Vision

'I have come that they might have life and have it in abundance'.  John 10:10

At Bowdon Church School we believe our whole community should thrive spiritually and academically in a loving, and caring school family where everyone is valued.  We will grow together, following Jesus, secure in the love of God.

Vision and Values

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, successful and happy citizens. To develop our vision and identify our core values we consulted with the whole school community. Through the consultation exercises we were able to come to a consensus on what we as a community consider to be most important to us. The list below shows the concepts identified most often as of key importance to members of our community.

We believe that our Christian values should underpin all our work and relationships with the community. We believe the human values above are rooted in the Christian values Jesus taught us and that we nurture at Bowdon Church School.

Our Golden Values in School

Understanding what is important to us helped us to develop our vision and values. Within our values we have developed our “Golden Values” that help us to live out our lives in a way that reflects our Christian values.

Mission statement - How we will achieve our vision

Educating for knowledge, skills and aspiration

In order to achieve our vision we provide an inclusive and stimulating environment for learning. We offer high quality teaching learning and have exceptional results, operating in the top 5% of primary schools nationally. We aim to challenge all our children and use a creative approach to present a wide and balanced curriculum full of opportunity and excitement. We have high standards of safety, behaviour and care rooted in our Christian values. In particular the Christian values of wisdom, justice, peace and forgiveness.   A wide ranging programme of extra-curricular activities and the opportunity for every child to be regarded as unique. We strongly believe in developing skills and attitudes that will advantage our children as they move to secondary education and beyond; encouraging a love of learning, a thirst for knowledge and the ability to take responsibility for their own learning.

Educating for wisdom, compassion, and hope

In addition to a mastery of key skills every child will experience the comfort of knowledge of the Christian faith and values, along with an understanding and respect for the beliefs of others.  They will also study life skills, such as debating, self-presentation, first aid, finance and enterprise. A significant focus will be placed on life skills that promote well-being. For example building relationships, coping wisely when things go wrong, promoting forgiveness and opening horizons.

Educating for community, respect and living well together

We have strong links with our local churches. A core focus of our work is on relationships. We strive to build positive relationships with our local community and with communities of the wider world. We are committed to nurturing the qualities of character that enable people to flourish together. We respect the value and preciousness of each person as a unique child of God (regardless of their beliefs).
