Welcome to the Year 1 page. Here you will find all the information you need to support your child's learning. You will also find pictures in the "blog" sub-pages.
We look forward to getting to know you all over the course of the year.

Current arrangements (regarding COVID-19)
***Please inform your child about the arrangements for their pick up***
Personal Equipment
Children should bring a single school bag that can be placed on the back of their chair or neatly on their cloakroom peg. The following items should be kept in the bag until required. The only things they should bring to school are:

a small rucksack or similar
-
clean and freshly-filled named water bottle
-
sun hat if required (named)
-
sun cream in a named bottle, to be kept in child’s bag for personal use only
-
coat (named)
-
packed lunch (if they are not having a school lunch) and a healthy snack that children are able to open themselves
-
school reading book and homework if appropriate
To be brought in and to remain in school:
-
Y1 and Y2 named colouring pencils only, in a small plastic bag (optional)
-
personal soap and hand cream (optional)
Children SHOULD NOT bring

pencil cases
-
PE kits (PE kit to be worn all day as per timetable)
-
large bags
-
toys
-
books
-
masks to wear in school

towels
Children are permitted to wear their PE kit for the whole day that they have PE. These days are Tuesdays and Fridays.

Autumn 1 Information
Our topic this half term is: ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You . This involves learning about our body and our senses in Science. In Geography we are using maps and plans. In RE we are learning about the Kingdom of God and in Art we are using Autumn and Harvest as a stimulus.
P.E and Games
P.E is on Fridays and Mr Lewis teaches games skills on Tuesday afternoons. You child should come into school wearing their PE kit on these days.
Homework
In reading, please discuss the story to ensure understanding. Please also identify capital letters full stops and question marks. We are also sending out a sharing book for bedtime reading or for your child to read independently.
MyMaths homework is sent out on Thursday and due in the following Thursday.
An optional learning log will be sent out after half term. More details to follow.
