Y3 Autumn Blog 2021

November

What a busy month! We celebrated Bonfire night with our firework pictures, at the end of Parliament Week (when we learned about democracy, voting and the Houses of Parliament).

We made poppies for our theme of Remembrance and learned that the poppies were the first flowers to grow on the battlefields after the first world war. We talked about war memorials and studied an old photo of the unveiling of the Sale war memorial in 1925. We listened to the Last Post and kept one minute of silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

We had great fun dressing up to raise money for Children in Need - so many superheroes and spots!

Y3 He were so excited to perform our assembly for parents, the first live school performance in front of parents "...since Noah was a lad!" We had great fun learning our parts and practising our singing and dancing - Mrs Heaton nearly knew the moves by the time of the performance!

September

How exciting it was to be joining Year 3! We were excited about our new classes and settled in well. We learned about the new school Vision and thought about all the people in our school community.

In our computing lessons we practised writing blog posts - here are the views of some of the children:

Year 3 is the best! I have made some new friends! I love the new clubs! It is great to be in a new classroom.

On Friday we have Golden Time. I especially like Maths. (Zach)

In Year 3 we have house points, I am in Dunham. In our class we have emotion sticks and a teddy panda called Bamboo and we go to cuddle him whenever we feel sad. (Cara)

Bowdon Church School is clean and safe. In Year 3 it is amazing, everyone is kind to everyone. (Cecily)

October

We enjoyed celebrating Harvest Festival and writing our own Harvest prayers. We learned about harvesting food crops and about healthy diets. In our Science lessons we have built paper skeletons and learned about bones and muscles.  We have studied the United Kingdom in Geography and focussed on Bowdon and Styal by looking at maps of the area. We have been celebrating Black History month by finding out about the lives of Muhammad Ali and Rosa Parks and enjoying books about Jemmy Button, Floella Benjamin and Katherine Johnson.
