Harvest Festival Gifts

Harvest Festival Gifts - Our donations go to two fantastic causes, the Wood Street Mission and the Booth Centre in Manchester; this school has a strong tradition of supporting these organisations.  The Wood Street mission has a Christmas focus, making up hampers for local families in need.  Each family will receive a substantial food hamper which will include non-perishable items of tinned fish or meat, fruit, vegetables, pasta or rice, cook-in sauces, soup, tea or coffee, biscuits, pudding, chocolates and one or two luxury items.

The Booth Centre in Manchester uses our donations to make sandwiches, breakfasts and evening meals for people who are homeless.  As well as the items listed above, there is also a need for cereals, sugar, sauces, mayonnaise, jams and pickles.

These donations can be placed in a small box or carrier bag.

We shall also continue our custom of taking small gifts to local people in the community who are unwell, housebound or who have been bereaved.  Last year several families made up lovely boxes for gifts and these were much appreciated.  I received a message from the church warden who organises the distribution of gifts, saying that the extra thoughtfulness of a nicely presented harvest box, containing a card, message or drawing from a child; thrilled the recipients and made their day.  It is lovely to know that we have families who consider the needs of others to this extent.
